FAQ's

What does it take to work at Camp Assurance?
A godly life and willing heart to serve the Lord! Camp Assurance not only needs counselors, but also Shop Supervisors for the Snack Shop, Craft Shop, and Coffee Shop, Lifeguards, Office and Tech workers.
Follow this link fill out a summer staff application and let us know how you want to serve at Camp Assurance this summer!

Which Summer Camp is for my child's age group?
Our Summer Camp Weeks go by the child's grade in school rather than their age.  You can choose to make the grade determination by the grade the child is currently enrolled [before Summer Camp] or the grade they will be in the next school year [in the Fall].
Teen Camp = 7th through 12th graders
Junior Camp = 4th through 6th graders
Primary Camp = 1st - 3rd graders [preferably completed 1st grade]
When a child is a 6th grader in the Spring they can go to Junior Camp and/or Teen Camp.
The same is true when a child is in third grade in the Spring and can go to Primary Camp and/or Junior Camp, however once a child goes to Junior Camp they will not likely want to return to Primary Camp. Primary Camp is a good first taste and allows the child to get used to being away from Mom for a couple nights.  Unlike 5-day Junior campers the Primary campers are led around on a horse and do not "trail ride" nor do they ride "Zippy" the 450' long zipline.
If you have further questions, please feel free to call us at 1-888-662-CAMP.

What should I bring to stay at Camp Assurance?
For a week-long camp, please see the Summer Camp Brochure.

 For a typical retreat:

  • Bedding for a bunk bed [sometimes sleeping bags are too hot]-Set of sheets, blanket(s), pillow in case
  • Pajamas/Night gowns or sweats & shirt
  • Two towels, toiletries, wash cloth, soap and shampoo, bathrobe or sweats and shirt
  • Two changes of clothes for recreation [Covered to knee when seated, please]
  • Couple pair of comfortable shoes - sneakers are great - one pair of "golden moldies" for creekwalking/getting muddy [If horseback riding is offered, a pair of boots or shoes with a heel is very helpful]
  • Jacket for night games/cool weather [hat and gloves in Winter]
  • Bible, notebook and pen
  • Flashlight
To ride Zippy or horses you need pants or longer culottes - not a skirt.
